Your order from Rotherwoods

Before buying any type of furniture, you should firstly know how to find the best match for your needs.

There are some general rules that still apply to all furniture purchases and so we’ve created this guide to ensure you make the right investment with Rotherwoods.

Sizing your furniture up…

Across our website and on everything we display in store we provide you with the full size of the furniture (height x width x depth).

Ensuring the right fit

Check the fit in your room by using a measuring tape, why not use masking tape to mark out the space on the floor? Remember to make sure it’s practical and you can still easily navigate around your new sofa or furniture.

Remember for recliners or some of our collections that you may need to allow extra space from the stated dimensions.

Through the Doorway into your home

By having the measurements of the furniture, make sure it can actually fit comfortably through any doorways, hallways and/or stairs.

Measure the height and width of your door and make sure the doorway is clear and anything sitting around is moved out of the way – When measuring next to the door check for anything that can’t be moved such as a radiator.

Sofas can be brought through the door vertically so by measuring your doorway you’ll have peace of mind that on delivery day our team will bring your new sofa into your room without delay.

If the sofa has to go up a stairwell then be sure to measure the ‘Height, Width & Depth of any turns on the stairs (landings) and make note of any obstacles.

Have a lift in your home?

Measure the height & width of the lift door and dimensions inside to make sure that your new sofa will fit.

You should also check the maximum load of the lift which should be displayed inside.

Sofas & Chairs

Your new sofa will be at the centre of your home and probably one of the hardest working items of furniture you could ever invest in.

Choosing your new sofa:

Size

Is it standing in the middle of a room, against a wall, by itself or as part of a suite? No matter where you place your sofa there should be space around it.

Will It Fit?

Check the fit in your room by using a measuring tape, why not use masking tape to mark out the space on the floor? Remember to make sure it’s practical and you can still easily navigate around your new sofa or furniture.

Measuring up for your sofa

Before purchasing your new sofa or chair, you should measure up to make sure it’s going to not only fit in the room but also through the door.

In your room

Measure the width & length of your room and we suggest making a template – you could even use masking tape to mark out the amount of space your new sofa requires so that you can visualise it within the room and ensure there’s enough room around the new sofa to open any doors etc.

Through your door

Measure the height and width of your door and make sure the doorway is clear and anything sitting around is moved out of the way – When measuring next to the door check for anything that can’t be moved such as a radiator.

Sofas can be brought through the door vertically so by measuring your doorway you’ll have peace of mind that on delivery day our team will bring your new sofa into your room without delay.
